Friendship Photography
When I do get to attend a 13th birthday party and this kind of friendship photography, I love it.
Its amazing being part of the excitement, the energy , the smiles and joy.
Birthdays bring only good vibes and good feelings.
Specially when I get to photograph my Beautiful God Daughters 13th Birthday! And all her glorious friends.
Its something special to behold , a 13 year old girl , moving from child to young women.
So much to look forward to in life.
Please look at other 13th friendship shoots Ive done in the past too: https://carmenlorraine.com/teenager-fun-photo-shoot/
How do I approach a group of 20 young girls and get the best out of them for our shoot.
1.) Introduce myself authentically and give them a quick run down of why Im there. With a natural friendly attitude and demeanour .
2.) Tell them to carry on as normal and pretend Im part of the party and not to worry about my massive camera and lens!!!
3.) Remind them to smile and to interact with each other in a playful and happy manner.
4.) Always using my loud and confident voice to get attention & to wrangler them all from time to time for the group shots.
5.) Get into the environment with them. If they go into the water so do I. No fear of getting dirty or wet.
6.) Keep Moving , keep scanning the location for the next shot. Keep the energy high and alive.
7.) Making sure to get candid imagery of them at play , portraits of each child & group shots.
8.) I remember whats it like to be a kid, and what kind of imagery will speak to them in todays day and age with Instgarm and the likes, So I try to ensure that they get the right imagery for the platforms they use.
9.) I normally take about 1 and a half to two hours to shoot a birthday in its entirety.
10.) And when finished , I let them know its done , and well done to all for being so brilliant in front of the camera…. And ALWAYS , Always have spare clothes waiting in the car.
