I had the opportunity to photograph for Karin Lijnes, an accomplished and highly gifted artist.
We photographed her floor art installation at her home.
So as the sun went down we put up some coloured background papers, played with some coloured lights and gels & the ever faithful smoke machine.
I loved the result , as Karin did too.
Here is Karin’s explanation of her art installation
Breathe Below Surface (2012)
The theme of swimming offers a metaphor of surface. In this work, I try to provoke a play with visible and invisible; absence and presence; the banal and sublime. As a route to the inner mind I think of a visual layer and a deeper underlying layer. Feelings and thoughts connecting the layers are as powerful and as essential as the need to breathe. For me, the creative process and the convenient and inconvenient emotions: love, sublime awe, grief and loss all reside within the same substrata – guides for transforming our selves. I allow my art to search that space of possibilities.
Please have a look at Karin’s website for further work : http://www.karinlijnes.co.za/breathe.shtml
